The society specially involves itself in the education of children and youth, especially, of the poor sections. The society’s priorities in education are not only academic excellence, but also formation of youth in discipline, hard work, moral and religious values. These priorities are meant to prepare the youth for life by promoting maturity, scientific temper, spirit of healthy competition, co-operation and sportsmanship through co-curricular activities, moral sensitivity to the needs and rights of others especially the poor, religious tolerance and national integration. The society co-operates with other like minded agencies, be it governmental or otherwise, to develop healthy, God fearing personalities and leaders for the nation through the process of Human Resource Development.

 

Characteristics of St. Gabrielite Education:
The aim of Gabrielite Education is to prepare the student for life. He/She as an individual and as a member of society must be helped to developed qualities of the mind, the heart, as well as necessary skills and attitudes which enable a person to cope with life and to be a concerned and contributing member of the society and of the nation. A system of education to this end can be broadly identified to consist the following area of focus.

A)      Person Oriented

B)      Social and other-oriented

C)      Professional or work oriented

D)      National or Citizen related

E)      International understanding and Universal Brotherhood

 

These areas receive their validity from the fundamental principles of the Constitution of India.

Person Oriented: It implies

  • The development of habits of cleanliness of one’s own person and surroundings at home, in school and elsewhere.

  • The development of habits of self-study, so as to become an independent learner, who is self-reliant, optimistic and resourceful

  • The development of personal values leading to the growth of personal integrity and the courage to stand for his convictions on genuinely human concerns, in word and action

Social or other related: The student develops

  • An attitude of care and concern leading to sharing with others; especially the needy and deserving

  • A healthy and warm relationship with others beyond his kith and kin breaking the narrow walls of prejudice based on caste, religion and language etc.

  •  Condemns violence in every form and promotes peace and harmony

  •  Respects members of the opposite sex and accepts them as equals

  •  Has a strong sense of duty and accountability, both personal and social and is not concerned much with one’s rights and privileges

Professional or Work-oriented: The student

  • Sees and accepts work, whether manual or intellectual, as a means for personal development and growth

  • Willingly shares in the chores at home and the service-oriented programs in the school or elsewhere with a sense of dignity of labor

  • Gets high standard of achievements, improving his performance and pursuing excellence

  • The student develops a scientific temper and an analytical approach to issues and problems of society and learns to work in co-operation with others.

National or Citizen oriented:

  • Respects the rights of other citizens, carefully avoiding any sort of exploitation

  • Observes the rule of the road and learns to be a law-abiding citizen

  • Learns to appreciate the cultural heritage of the country and develops a sense of belonging and feeling a sense of pride in being an Indian first and stands above narrow religious, linguistic or regional deference, this promoting national and emotional integration with a sense of commitment to nation building

International understanding & Universal Brotherhood:

  • He/She becomes aware of the universal brotherhood of man and appreciates the rich and growing heritage of man in terms f scientific knowledge and technology promoting the common welfare of mankind

  • He/She develops a humane attitude of acceptance of the others as his brothers and sisters within the family of man

  • Strives for international peace and understanding and contributes his share in the building up of the community of persons.
